A Century of Charitable Retail

In 2025, Australia marks an extraordinary milestone, 100 years of op shops. The term “op shop,” first coined in 1925 by Lady Millie Tallis, has come to symbolise community, reuse, and social good.

This year’s Charitable Reuse Conference celebrates that centenary with the theme “100 Years of Op Shops”. Organised by the Charitable Reuse Australia, the event brings together the nation’s leading charity retailers, reuse organisations, and circular economy innovators for two inspiring days of learning, collaboration, and celebration.
