Cybertill Achieves Cyber Essentials Certification

A Key Milestone in Our Ongoing Cybersecurity Commitment

We’re delighted to announce that Cybertill has successfully achieved Cyber Essentials Certification. This marks a significant step forward in strengthening our cybersecurity posture and aligns with our long-standing commitment to protecting the sensitive data entrusted to us by our customers and partners.

As a business that supports a wide range of retailers and charities across the UK and Australia, maintaining strong cybersecurity practices is vital to ensuring our customers’ data remains secure and protected.

Did you know that over the past year, 7.7 million UK businesses experienced some form of cybercrime? That’s nearly half of all businesses in the country; a clear reminder that no organisation is immune to digital threats, regardless of size or sector.

That’s why we’ve taken proactive steps to strengthen our cyber defences by achieving Cyber Essentials Certification, a government-backed scheme designed to help organisations guard against the most common types of cyberattacks.

What is Cyber Essentials?

Cyber Essentials is a UK government-backed certification developed by the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC). It helps organisations protect themselves against the most common cyber threats, including phishing, malware, and unauthorised access, by ensuring that key security controls are in place.

To become certified, businesses must demonstrate strong practices across five essential areas: firewalls, secure system configurations, access control, malware protection, and regular software updates.

By meeting these standards, Cybertill has built a solid foundation of cyber hygiene. In fact, organisations with Cyber Essentials controls in place make 92% fewer cyber insurance claims, highlighting the practical value of these measures in reducing real-world risks.

Cyber Essentials not only protects our systems and data, but also reinforces our commitment to staying secure and resilient.

Why This Matters

Achieving Cyber Essentials is more than a tick-box exercise. It represents a clear, externally validated demonstration that we take cybersecurity seriously — not just internally, but on behalf of every client, user, and stakeholder who interacts with our systems.

It complements our existing ISO 27001 certification, an internationally recognised standard for information security management, and together, these accreditations reflect a deeply embedded culture of security and continuous improvement within our organisation.

This milestone helps to:

  • Build trust with our existing clients, especially those in sectors like charity retail, where data protection and compliance are paramount.

  • Enhance confidence among prospective partners and customers evaluating our systems and services.

  • Reduce risk of business disruption, data loss, and reputational damage from cyber incidents.

  • Align with procurement requirements, especially when working with government and public-sector organisations.

What’s Next: Cyber Essentials Plus

Our journey doesn’t stop here. Over the next 90 days, we’ll be working toward Cyber Essentials Plus — a more advanced certification that includes in-depth technical audits, vulnerability scans, and real-world attack simulations carried out by independent assessors.

Achieving this next level will further prove that our security controls are not only in place but working exactly as they should.

As secure custodians of 27,215,046 retained customer records on behalf of our customers, cybersecurity is a shared responsibility. From our IT teams to leadership, we’re committed to staying ahead of threats and delivering secure, reliable technology to every customer we serve.

Thank you to our clients, partners, and team for your continued support. We look forward to sharing more progress soon.
