Celebrating the International Day of Charity: A Tribute, A Mission, A Movement
The 5th of September is International Day of Charity, a moment to recognise and reflect on the incredible impact that charities and non‑profits have across the globe. Chosen to commemorate the anniversary of Mother Teresa’s passing, this date stands as a tribute to her extraordinary life of compassion and service. It also serves as a powerful reminder of the role that charity continues to play in addressing some of the world’s most urgent challenges, including poverty, inequality and humanitarian crises.
At Cybertill, we believe in the power of purpose‑driven work. We know that behind every charity shop, fundraiser and volunteer event is a team of passionate people working tirelessly to make a difference. Our role is to support and empower those people, giving them the tools they need to focus on what truly matters.
International Day of Charity and the Global Mission
International Day of Charity is not just about recognising individual acts of kindness. It is about recognising that charity is essential to global progress. This day links closely with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, especially the mission to eradicate poverty in all its forms.
It is also a chance to:
-
Celebrate the organisations and individuals who dedicate their lives to helping others
-
Raise awareness of global and local issues that demand attention
-
Inspire action through volunteering, donating and community engagement
-
Promote partnerships that combine expertise, innovation and compassion
Working with Remarkable Charities
Over the years, we have had the privilege of supporting a wide range of charitable organisations, both large and small. Each one has its own mission, but all share a common goal: to make the world a better place. We are proud to work with impactful organisations such as Oxfam Ireland, Cancer Research UK, BRC and Sense among many others across the UK and Ireland.
Every charity we support brings hope and help to those who need it most. Whether through technology, training or donations, we are proud to play a part in their ongoing success.
Leading by Example
At Cybertill, we do not just support charities through our products. We also take part in fundraising and volunteer efforts ourselves. This year, our team laced up their trainers and took part in Cancer Research’s Race for Life, raising a total of £1,610 to support life‑saving research. It was a fantastic day full of energy.
Taking action as a team helps us stay connected to the causes we care about and reminds us why we do what we do.
Earlier this year, we were proud to be a headline sponsor at the Charity Retail Association Conference and Exhibition held in Harrogate , an event bringing together key stakeholders in the charity retail sector. We unveiled fresh branding and exciting new products, including our Loss Prevention Dashboard, Customer Display Screens, and showcased our continued innovation in Gift Aid and analytics capabilities.
Our stand offered visitors the chance to win a free Gift Aid training course and an iPad, and we had the pleasure of awarding it to Dean Tiller from Lewis‑Manning Hospice Care. We left the event inspired by the energy and commitment across the charity sector.
A Message to Our Charity Partners
To all the charities we support, whether through technology, training or fundraising, we want to say thank you. Your work inspires us. Your courage and resilience drive us to keep improving. And your missions remind us that every system we build and every update we make has a real-world impact.
You are more than just customers. You are partners in progress, and we are proud to stand beside you as you change lives.
Looking Ahead
As we mark the International Day of Charity, we renew our commitment to the charity sector. We will continue to innovate, to listen to your needs, and to adapt to the ever-changing landscape of charity retail and fundraising.
Happy International Day of Charity from all of us at Cybertill.
Let’s continue doing good, together.
