Important Notice: Upgrade Your Till OS Before 2026

At Cybertill, we're committed to providing the best service and support. Some tills may be running an older version of Windows (Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB), which Microsoft will stop supporting after October 14, 2026. So, it’s time to upgrade to Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC, which is supported until 2032. Upgrading ensures your tills stay secure, meet compliance standards and protect your business.  While this may appear to be some time away, the deadline falls next year, making it essential for businesses to begin preparing and planning their upgrade strategy now, before it’s too late.

Upgrading is critical because some till run on these operating systems, and once support ends, they will no longer receive security updates or compliance patches. This can leave your systems exposed to vulnerabilities and put your business operations, data, and customer trust at risk. By planning ahead, you ensure your tills remain reliable, secure, and compliant well beyond the upcoming deadline.

What Happens If You Don’t Upgrade Before 2026?

Upgrading before October 2026 is crucial. Here’s why:

  • Security Risks: Without updates, your tills become vulnerable to cyberattacks.
  • Compliance Issues: Using unsupported versions may cause problems with PCI-DSS compliance, making secure payments difficult or impossible.
  • Loss of Support: After October 2026, Windows 10 Enterprise LTSB, will no longer be supported, meaning no more updates or bug fixes for your system.

Why Upgrade to Windows 10 LTSC?

Upgrading to Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC has a lot of benefits for your business:

  1. Longer Support: LTSC gets updates and patches for a much longer period, ensuring your system stays secure.
  2. Better Security: Each LTSC release includes the latest security features to keep your tills safe from cyber threats.
  3. Improved Hardware Compatibility: LTSC works great with the latest hardware, boosting the performance of your tills.
  4. Simpler System Management: LTSC includes better tools to manage and monitor your tills, saving your team time.
  5. Feature Enhancements: While LTSC focuses on stability, it still includes useful improvements for better system performance.
  6. Less Bloat: LTSC avoids unnecessary features and keeps your system lean, focusing only on what you need for business use.

How to Upgrade Your Tills

Upgrading to Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC is straightforward. Just get in touch with your Cybertill Key Account Manager, and they’ll walk you through the upgrade process for your tills. We offer a tailored migration package to make the transition seamless and minimise any disruption to your business.

If you independently source your till hardware from another provider other than Cybertill, we recommend reaching out to them to confirm that they can support the upgrade to LTSC. If they can't, consider making the switch to Cybertill, where we’ll ensure your tills stay secure and up-to-date for the long term.

What’s the Cost of the Upgrade & Do New Tills Need an Upgrade?

Cybertill offers affordable upgrade packages to help you transition to Windows 10 Enterprise LTSC. Contact your Cybertill Key Account Manager for a detailed cost breakdown and to explore the best options for your business. Booking your upgrade is simple. You can reserve your upgrade time today without any upfront commitment. By booking early, you secure a time that works best for you as the deadline approaches.

As for new tills, no upgrade is needed. Any new till purchased from Cybertill (from July 2024) comes with Windows 10 LTSC as standard. This version is supported until 2032, so you can rest easy knowing you will not need to worry about upgrading for a long time.

How to Find Out Which System You’re On

If you're wondering whether your till is using LTSB or LTSC, here’s how you can find out:

  1. Check System Info on the Till:
Go to Settings or System Information and find the Version or Build Number. This will show if you're using LTSC or LTSB.

  2. Check the Label:
Some tills have a label with version details on the back or side.

  3. Contact Support:
If you're still unsure, reach out to your support team. If you're a Cybertill customer, you can contact your account manager accountmanagers@cybertill.co.uk for assistance.

  4. Always double-check any till before use, as some may be operating on different software than others.

Next Steps

To start your upgrade, simply contact your Cybertill Key Account Manager. They’ll walk you through the process and answer any questions you have.

If your current till provider isn’t offering the upgrades or support you need, consider switching to Cybertill. We offer reliable, long-term solutions to keep your business running smoothly and securely.
